ALR-D Screen Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the SilverMagic projection screen! This guide will walk you through how the screen works and how to install it for the best viewing experience.

ALR-D vs ALR — What's the difference?

The ALR-D features a dual-layer construction that provides superior ambient light rejection compared to the standard ALR model, making it ideal for rooms with multiple light sources or large windows.

How SilverMagic Retro-Reflective Screens Work

Our screens are designed to reflect light more intensely back to its source than in other directions. This design offers two key advantages:

1

Enhanced Contrast

By reflecting ambient light back towards its source, our screens significantly reduce the impact of ambient light on the viewing experience.

2

Increased Brightness

Our screens reflect more light from the projector back to the area near it. As a result, viewers near the projector will experience a notably brighter image.

03

Tips for Getting a Better Image

1

Screen Location

When choosing the location for the screen, please avoid placing it directly toward windows or other sources of bright light.

2

Projector Position

Position the projector close to viewers' eye level. You can place it on a coffee table, mount it on the wall behind a sofa or bed. Ceiling mounting and side projection are not recommended.

Preparation — Tools & People Needed

1

Find the Installation Spot

Find the desired installation spot. Avoid placing it directly toward windows or other sources of light.

2

Mark Reference Lines

Use a pencil to mark several reference lines at the top edge, ensuring they are the same distance from the ceiling.

3

Select the Right Hardware

Select the right hardware for your wall type. Use standard drywall anchors for drywall, or appropriate fasteners for harder surfaces (brick, concrete, etc.).

4

Hang from the Center

Start with the middle of the top border. Hang the screen on the wall using a thumbtack or nail at the center point first.

5

Fix the Top Border

From center to corners, fix one nail per foot while stretching the screen. Use just enough strength to make the top border straight.

6

Install the Other Borders

Follow the same center-to-corner order to install the other borders. While stretching the screen, use just enough strength to remove the wrinkles without stretching too hard — this will avoid curving the border too much.

7

Apply the Black Velvet Borders

Apply the black velvet as borders. Stretch the velvet to make it straight.

Key tip for a wrinkle-free screen: Always work from the center outward. Use just enough tension to remove wrinkles — over-stretching will cause the borders to curve.
